Lots of summer fun

In May we found out our little bundle was going to be a boy!! We are both excited to have another little guy running around but once again struggle with finding a name.

I received beautiful flowers for Mothers Day but of course my true joy is the two gifts in my arms :)

April and Pete Carey came to for a visit. It is always great to have loved ones in my home.

Hannah and Aubrey, my nieces, came for three weeks in June. Hannah continues a special friendship with Makenzie who lives across the street.

Sophie took preschool one swim lessons. She thought she was going to freeze to death after each lesson.

Camping with our church. It was windy and a bit cold but fun none the less. We did end of leaving early due to an overtaking of the flu for our family. There is nothing like having the flu in the wilderness.

Adam found a little spot that we have grown to love. It is about ten minutes from home and has great hiking trails and a creek the kids love to swim in. We try to make it out there every weekend.

And summer wraps us with Sophie attending preschool two days a week and Faith Lutheran.

Adam took the day off the attend orientation with Sis. She would rather have him by her side than anyone else.It is truly a relationship I pray continues through all their years.

Here we are enjoying our last camping trip of the summer. We are blessed to know a family who opens their campgrounds to us. This is our second summer and hope it is one of many. We brought along some great friends this time to share in our joy. It was super fun!!

So as many of you know, January through April makes us one family member short due to tax season. During that time, not much goes on for us and therefore no posts :) But of course we have had so much fun since then hiking, swimming, and CELEBRATING a new baby boy in my belly, mothers day and Elijah's 2nd birthday!

We had a great time celebrating the birth of Christ time and time again. First we had a neighborhood party which had a great turn out with lots of fun. It was a blessing to be able to meet neighbors and have them into our home. We then had a little Christmas in Nebraska with some of my family. And finally we went to CA for the real deal. Sophie loved seeing her cousins almost every day and of course now asks for them about every day. Whew, now the decorations are down and in a peaceful way, we have nothing going on for awhile.

Adam and I got a weekend get away to the mountains. It was absolutely wonderful to spend time alone with him. I love that man :) Thanks Mom for watching the kids.

Sophie Rose is three years old.. can you believe it!! I remember the anxiety of taking her home weighing four pounds, eleven ounces- a tiny little thing who had about the same amount of personality. Let me tell you, that although the scale is barely reaching 26 pounds, her personality can fill up the room in a New York minute!! Her imagination gets put into action the majority of the day. Sophie pretends play all day long and has just recently starting involving Elijah!! I love this little gal and pray for our relationship. I want to be her mom now to give her boundaries and self confidence and truth and I also look forward to the day we can be friends. She is a gift from God and is already recognizing Him in her life. What else could I ask for!!

October was such a busy, busy month~ Lots of excitement with Husker football, bringing out the fall decorations and of course Halloween!! We celebrated on several different occasions so here are a few photos. November will bring lots more fun times. Life this year has been full of events and times of growth. A tough lesson this year has been in loss... loss of the preborn, the new born, the middle age and the old. No matter the age, its tough but also it is a reminder of God's presence in everyone's life. He is truly the giver of life, the One who breathes air into our existence. So in response, I have learned to take that extra moment to notice Sophie's new discovery or holding Elijah a bit longer and even take an extra glimpse at Adam for my love for them is deep and I want to catch the moments in their lives. I know I have been blessed a great number of loved ones and I am thankful that despite the lesson of loss, my cup overflows with love.

We always enjoy the zoo. Sophie's favorite is the elephant while Elijah loves the gorillas.

We had a great summer filled some wonderful memories. We had visitors each month, which is such a fun time for us. And we moved into our new home which fits us perfectly!!Adam and I at the Rockies game. We always have so much fun at the games.

Well the time has come to celebrate Elijah's first birthday, unbelievable right!! His first year flew by.. I am sure because it was full of so many great adventures both with having two kids and starting a new life in Colorado. I cant help but to post photos of his birth through his first year. He is such a great little guy. He catches smiles from almost everyone in the stores. I rarely am in a store when I am not stopped by someone wanting to talk to him or tell me how adorable he is. God has blessed me with an amazing son whom I pray will lead others to God as he discovers how amazing God truly is in his own life.

Today we are celebrating the birthday of Sweet baby Elyse. Elyse went to live with Jesus six weeks ago. We miss her dearly and keep April, Cliff, and Peter in our constant prayers. Please also pray for these children of God who are going through a trial that is testing their faith but remain strong in faith despite their broken hearts.The first two photos are of "Lysie Lou" when she was five months.

Elijah 9 months

Our little Elijah is already nine months!! I must admit he has won my heart time and again. He is a Mamas boy and I have to really work on not holding him as much as he would like which is every waking moment :) He is weighing in at 18lbs 6 oz and is 27inches long. We feel he is huge compared to Sophie but in reality he is only at the 20 percentile.
We will be going to physical therapy and a spinal defects specialist in a few weeks for an evaluation on his spina bifida occulta. The great news is he has just began to crawl this week so his motor skills are improving. I am so thankful where I am in my walk with the Lord because He gives me such patience and peace as we travel along this journey with Elijah.
Sophie is picking up many new phrases and mimics those around her. She has been potty trained for about a month which is a great treat for a parent. The less diapers the better :) She is really memorizing all the names of family members as well as working on her counting to four(she cant get past three!!) and her ABC's. We were interested in sending her to an early preschool but have decided to wait another year.

January has proven to be a month where we just enjoy our new home and do a bit of exploring. We are spending our Sundays looking around neighborhoods for a new home. We found a church to attend. This is the first church we have tried and are very satisfied with their services so we think we will stay. I was able to jump into a precepts class covering Genesis which I am enjoying a lot!!

Papa Leon came for a visit. He took us to the stock show and Sophie loved it. She was fascinated by all the animals.
On a Saturday we explored downtown Boulder. We had a great time enjoying the cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately there was a lot of Buff gear. Way too much for a Husker to cope!! :)

Christmas 09

We had a great Christmas in Nebraska this year. Our celebration started a few days early due to a storm that was to arrive but it decided to head east and south instead. It was good to spend a few extra days with Dad. We were in Grant for three days and then headed to Gothenburg to celebrate with Mom for a couple days. There was a lot of laughter and good times and of course the kids brought home more toys than ever needed :)

We are all moved in and made ourselves a little home here in Denver. We have really enjoyed our new lives so far. Its quiet and spending time with one another is always a good thing. Here are a few photos of our apartment ;)

We have made our move to Colorado. Our new address is 9959 East Peakview Ave #G102, Englewood CO 80111. We have so much gratitude for our loved ones who helped get us moved. We couldnt have done it ourselves thats for sure!! The apartment we have chosen has turned out to fit us quite nicely. It already feels like home... a cozy little home. It was tough to say goodbye to our California life but visits will happen several times a year and we think this move will be fruitful for our lives. These are photos of the saying goodbye to the Lakes and hello to the Lees.

Busy November

We have already had a busy November and we are only half way through!! Adam and I sold our home and were able to go to Denver to rent an apartment for a few months. We are planning our big move to Denver the weekend of Thanksgiving. Please pray for travel mercies and great weather.
Sophie celebrated her 2nd birthday!! She is getting more and more fun as her little personality develops. There are times when she reminds me of myself and I wonder how we are going to work when she turns 16!! But not to count my chickens too fast, right :) I am so thankful I am able to stay home and not miss a day of her experiencing the world and trying out new words. She has quite the imagination as she plays with her tea set and babies.
Elijah is now six months and so chubby. I love his little rolls and his smile is something else. He is definitely a mamas boy and you wont hear a word of complaint from me. I love snuggling with him and just having him close. He has a pretty laid back personality so it works with the chaos that is our lives right now.

Home for sale

And here we are in the beginning of October, planning on a move to Denver. Adam was offered a new job to begin in late December. Our home is for sale and we are leaning on the Lord and praying for provision and guidance. Times like these are all tough on the self but so great for our relationship with the Lord. I am learning to put what I have read in His Word and learned from other believers into action in my life. It is increasing my faith and love for Him and making Him more and more alive in my life.

My youngest brother, Mathew, got married in Riviera Maya in September. It was quite the trip but as you can see, a beautiful wedding. His wife, Leslie, was a breath taking bride. Of course her fun personality added so much to the beauty. After the reception, they all jumped in the pool with their suits and dresses on!! What a bunch of crazies. I had a great time with Mom and Mel and Elijah ;well my whole family. Adam and Josh were unable to join us. Someone had to stay home and make the money :)

We had a great fourth of July. Adams parents country club had an evening with food and fun events for the kiddos and ended the night with a fantastic fireworks display. Sophie did really well. I think she was so tired by that time she was mostly interested in cuddling with her dad and going to sleep. That girl definitely loves to sleep; which make is much easier on her mama.

We have been able to go on a few little vacations since Elijah was born. My sister and her family met us in Orange County for a week which was beyond fun for all of us. We went to Disneyland for several days as well as hung out on the beach. Sophie loved to play in the sand but not such a fan of the ocean:) On the last day of Disney, we discovered Sophie loves Minnie!! She would just stand still and watch Minnie with all the kids. Her daddy had to buy her a Minnie on our way out! We were also able to go to Hume Lake for a weekend. It was Elijahs first trip to Hume and as the rest of us, he loved it!!
Sophie is still doing really well adjusting to being a big sis; of course we have our moments of her demonstrating her seniority with him! Elijah is growing at a much more rapid pace than Sophie. He is nine weeks and already rolling over and holding up his head. We just went to the Dr and he is weighing in at 8lbs 14 oz.
We are enjoying our summer and our family of four :)

Elijah Michael Royce Lake

We welcomed little Elijah Michael Royce Lake on April 26 at 10:06am. He weighed 7lbs 2 ounces and was 19 inches long. The C Section went very well and he is a healthy and strong little guy. The adjustment is going well and Sophie is being a true champ about all the changes in her life. She loves to hold him and give him plenty of hugs and kisses each day. I am so thankful for her excitement and adaptability. So far he is quite an easy baby!!

Elijah's update.

We have scheduled baby Elijah's C section to be this Sunday, April 26 at 9:30 am. I have been hoping he would arrive by himself but it appears he is in no hurry and neither is my body. Due to my previous C Section and passing due date, the doctor believes it best to look at another C Section. Please keep us in your prayers as this day is quickly approaching; specifically safety for both of us no matter which way he greets the world. I am filling my mind with verses to fight my anxiety and to remind myself that the Ancient of Days is at work in our lives. Its so wonderful to keep verses around my home to remind myself how great is our God! He is never changing and His Presence resides within my soul. A new update will soon follow, with photos of our new little blessing!

Expecting little Elijah?

We are just beginning our 36 week of pregnancy with our little guy. We think we are going with the name Elijah, middle name yet to be decided. Although Adam is having a tough time commiting, so dont hold me to it!! Sophie came a few weeks early so I am ready for him arrive any time but of course it would be nice to have Adam done with tax season :). We are all doing well and anxiously awaiting his arrival. We really appreciate everyones excitement about him and will keep you updated. We pray for a successful delivery as we are trying to avoid another C Section and would value each prayer on our behalf. We are also praying for this little guy in character and His love for the Lord, may he fall in love with our Savior as such a young age. And as for Sophie, may she develop the leadership skills as her brother watches her and imitates her. She is such a true blessing to us, I cant believe she will my my oldest. I still call her "mama's baby" and sink into the moments when she just sits on my lap and sings.

Adam and Josh, my brother in law, who are bringing home their reward from a day of pheasant hunting. Fortunately they gave the game to Grandma so we didnt have to eat them :) Adam is slowly transforming to a Nebraskan. He has now ran a tractor and experienced hunting!! Way to go!

We spent Christmas in Nebraska this year. There was a bit of snow on the ground which I loved but the wind chill was way too cold to go outside and play. These photos are from my sisters house. We went to a service, had supper, opened gifts,played games and then waited for Santa. Sophie loved opening the gift bags. We had a great time.

We had our 20 week doctor appointment yesterday and we will be welcoming a... boy into our family!! So our family will be an even two boys and two girls (including us, of course). I am sure a little boy will add much color into my day. I can only imagine :)

Sophie turned one year old!! She went to the doctor and is weighing in at 17lbs 14 oz and 28" long. We are having so much fun with her. She wasnt sure about the cake but soon as she got a taste of the frosting, she was game! (for some reason, my photos are in reverse order, sorry). We had taught her to hold her finger up showing she was one but of course when we tried to take a photo she wouldnt perform. I was pretty emotional all day, tears of thanksgiving to our Father for trusting me with Sophie and what a blessing she is to our daily lives; tears of disbelief that a year has already passed and I just want time to slow down a little for me. It is such a great time of blessing in our lives.

Our visit to Nebraska for corn harvest

Sophie and I went to Nebraska for three weeks to help my dad with corn harvest. I was really nervous at first because it had been so long since driving a tractor, luckily it came back to me like riding a bike!! This is my dad in a combine unloading corn into my grain cart. We are on the move! Once I am full, I will then dump into a semi who will take the corn into town to an elevator. About one and a half grain carts fill a semi.

Sophie is nine months old and so much fun. we went to her check up and she weighs 15lbs 12 ounces and is 27 inches long. It was the best check up we have had!!! She is crawling everywhere and that means getting everything into that little mouth ;) We are working on waving bye-bye and saying mama (she already has da-da down).

Sophie took a dive out of the backseat of our pick up... ouch. We were actually pretty shook up but now that its over and she has no permanent damage its something to laugh about. Sophie is seven months, well tomorow she will be... she had a huge month six. She got two teeth, found her feet and was able to sit on her own all in one week!! I am feeding her a lot of natural food and we havent found anything she doesnt like. I am aware the two bottom pictures are going to jeopardize our future relationship but its worth it, look at those cute peaches ;)

On sunday we were going to take sophie for her first swim. I got her all lubed up with sunscreen, put on her swimsuit, and sunglasses , placed her in the highchair and took photos. well by the time i got my suit on and her floaty aired up she had fallen asleep. better luck next time. i need to be a little more on the ball :)

Sophie is six months old!!! We just went to the Dr. and she is weighing in at 12lbs and 25 inches. She is getting more and more fun with each passing month. She has endless smiles for her daddy. adam worked very hard during tax season so to celebrate we went to orange county for a few days. it was quite an experience... our first "vacation" with a baby. being in the room by seven each night and stopping every few hours to feed sophie was a bit different than having the two of us:) we were able to hang out at the beach and see some friends which made it all worth the effort.

Sophie went to the doctor for her five month check up and she weighed in at 10lbs 6 oz. the doctor gave the go ahead to start baby food. I chose green beans which Sophie did not find amusing... actually she ate them just fine. It took a few bowls before we were able to get the majority in her mouth!

Little Miss Sophina Rosina is four months old. We just had our appointment and she is weighing in at 9 lbs and 23.5 inches long. She is a petite little gal but brings so much joy to our lives. She is rolling over from tummy to back and is finding her own laughter. I am having so much fun living each day with my special gift.
